As you may have heard, a Smart Cities Open Innovation Challenge has been launched within the Southern Vancouver Island region. The idea is to seek innovative ways of pairing data and technology together to create "smart" solutions that will help to solve real-world issues in our city and create a more sustainable, prosperous, safe and healthy community.
We are seeking "smart" pilot project ideas that will improve livability for residents in the following areas:
- Transportation & Mobility
- Housing & Affordability
- Economic Resiliency & Inclusion
- Human Health
- Environmental Health
Top pilot project teams will be invited to pitch their "smart" ideas in front of a live audience and expert panel of judges for a chance to win one of three $15,000 prizes.
Whether you are interested in learning more about our Smart Cities work, have specific questions about the Open Innovation Challenge, or would like to get connected with steering committee members representing one of our five key challenge themes, we invite you to join us for a Meet & Greet with the South Island Prosperity Project team at Hillside Mall on January 20th between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
We will have a variety of staff onsite to answer your questions, and will also have some general information available about the extensive project work that the South Island Prosperity Project is engaging in across the region.
